Coy James Turner

Coy James Turner, of Pauls Valley was born September
12, 1926 in Byars, Oklahoma to Luther Carol Turner and Eunice Elizabeth
Wall Turner.
He passed away May 19, 2008 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 81
years.
He began his tour of duty in the U.S. Army on March 19, 1945; he served
during World War II in the Philippines and earned the Asiatic Pacific
Theatre Ribbon as well as the World War II Victory Ribbon. Coy was
discharged December 4, 1946.
He lived in Abernathy, Texas for about 25 years where he farmed. Coy was
married to Shirley D. Webber in Gainesville, Texas on October 19, 1972.
He returned to make Pauls Valley their home in 1972 where he worked as a
Plumber. In 1973 he established Coy Turner Plumbing and served the Pauls
Valley area until he retired in September 2007. He was saved in August
1986 and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther C. and Eunice Turner;
brothers, Jack, Loyd and Bobby Joe Turner; sisters, one as an infant and
Jewel Jones; step-son, Ricky Underwood; and a granddaughter, Lacie
Brown; his first wife, Lorene; a son-in-law, Junior Brown and many other
relatives.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley of the home; sons, Larry
Turner and his wife, Sharon, of Anton, Texas; Billy Turner and his wife,
Dora; David Turner and his wife, Julie; and Chris and his wife, Renee,
all of Abernathy, Texas; his daughters, Kathy McKinley and her husband,
Brock; and Ramona Brown, all of Pauls Valley and Shirla Mumford and her
husband, Sonny, of Maysville; his mother-in-law, Johnnie Biles of
Wynnewood; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 2:00 pm at
Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Tom Ison. Interment
will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey
Funeral Home. |
