In Loving Memory Of

Cathern Sterling

Cathern Sterling, of Pauls Valley was born November 20, 1917 in Bradley County, Arkansas to Ed and Elgie Blanch Baker Huitt. She passed away June 27, 2008 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years.

Cathern was married to Odell Sterling at Wynnewood, Oklahoma on July 9, 1938. She lived East of Wynnewood until 1945 and in Pauls Valley since. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church. Cathern had been very active in the church and community. She was WMU Treasurer, a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and Clothing Room Attendant. She had helped with PTA, FHA and Cub Scouts.

Cathern was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Burnice & Gaines Huitt; 3 sisters, Oneida Shipley, Edwena Fox & Margie McNeill; and one nephew.

Survived by her husband of 70 years, Odell Sterling of the home; a son, John Sterling and a daughter and son in law, Jane and Gordon McMahon, all of Pauls Valley; 3 grandchildren, Kara Fluty, Kris McHughes and Mike Sterling; 3 great grandchildren, Kate McLain, Emily Sterling and Finn McHughes, and loving nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Dr. Joe Elam. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Odell and John, my heart goes out to you and your family in this time of sorrow, may God bless you and keep you in his loving arms.John a lot of time has passed since our paths have crossed, but I still remember the times that you and I shared working at the paper.
Because I care my heartfelt thoughts go out to you today with more concern and sympathy than I could ever say. I hope the special love this brings will help to see you through, and time will bring you brighter days, because I care for you.
