In Loving Memory Of

Carolyn L. (Williams) Salyer

Carolyn L. (Williams) Salyer, of Pauls Valley was born January 1, 1946 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Preston and Mary (Felan) Williams.

She passed away August 4, 2007 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years.

Carolyn grew up in Pauls Valley and attended Pauls Valley schools and is a 1964 graduate of Pauls Valley High School. She furthered her education by attending East Central State University in Ada, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha where, in 1986, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Special Education; as well as a Minor in Psychology, Language Arts and Social Studies.

On March 16, 1984 she was married to James Arthur Salyer in Colorado Springs, Colorado and made their home in Topeka, Kansas. For the past 11 years she has owned and operated the 'Santa Fe Optical' in Lawrence, Kansas.

After the loss of her husband and later becoming ill she closed her Optical Shop and returned to Pauls Valley to be closer to family and friends she had grown up with.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Preston Williams and her husband, James Arthur Salyer.

Surviving family include a daughter and her husband, Anne Salyer and Kevin Weaver of Overland Park, Kansas; her adopted son and his wife, Randy and Stacy Nester of Kansas City, Kansas; a stepson and his wife, Tim and Janice Salyer of Topeka, Kansas; her mother, Mary Williams of Pauls Valley; one sister and her husband, Chris and Charles Johnston of Pauls Valley; six brothers, Charles and his wife Charlotte Williams of Pauls Valley, Sammy Williams of Sulphur, Mickey Williams, Rickey and his wife, Terrye Williams, Tim and his wife, Paula Williams and Tony Williams, all of Pauls Valley; as well as her faithful companion, Max; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

The family has requested that memorials be made in her name to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation at 825 Northeast 13th St. in Oklahoma City, OK. 73104; to the Pauls Valley General Hospital Foundation or Valley Hospice at 100 Valley Drive in Pauls Valley, Ok. 73075.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Robert J. Kanary. Cremation services under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
