Lena Fay Banks Roberson, of Pauls Valley
was born August 23, 1923 in Courtney, Oklahoma to Walter Nathan and Eula
Mae (Thomas) Banks.
She passed away December 15, 2004 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of
81 years.
George M. Roberson and Lena Fay Banks were married in Marietta, Oklahoma
on April 25, 1959.
Fay graduated from Courtney High School in 1941 and went on to attend
Southeastern State College where she earned her B.A. in 1951 and furthered
her education by earning her M. A. from the University of Oklahoma in
1960. She taught in various schools in Oklahoma including Courtney, Paoli
and Pauls Valley, where she retired in 1985 after 35 years. She was a
member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Fay was member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge # 185 and was
presented her 50 year Membership Pin on October 16, 2004.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Cleo Baxley and a nephew, Malcolm
Baxley.
Surviving family include her husband of 45 years, George M. Roberson, of
the home; her daughter, Georgann Gaye Roberson Spivey and her husband,
Tony, of Cleburne, Texas; a grandson, Jeremy Spivey of Cleburne, Texas; 2
step-grandchildren, Tamara Spivey and Derrick Spivey and a niece, Gaye
Dewbre, of Courtney, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 10:00 am at
Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Bro. Tim Bowen. The Committal and Burial
will be at 1:00 pm in the Lake View Cemetery at Marietta, Oklahoma under
the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
