Fred D. Riggs

Fred D. Riggs, of Pauls Valley was born June 16, 1925
in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Thomas Melton Riggs and Amy Coy Riggs. He
passed away March 20, 2007 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 81
years.
Fred grew up and attended school in Pauls Valley. He enlisted in the
U.S. Navy on December 30, 1942 and was Honorably Discharged as Chief
Petty Officer serving in the World War II in the Pacific Theater as
Radar Electronic Technician. He was discharged on April 1, 1972.
Fred was married to Loreen Randall at Moore, Oklahoma on August 31,
1973. He retired from Civil Service Department of the Army at Ft. Sill
on August 3, 1985. He moved to Pauls Valley and had made his home here
since 1985. He was a member of the Pauls Valley Masonic Valley Lodge #6
and Pauls Valley Eastern Star Chapter No. 185.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Amy Riggs and step
father, Chester Barrett, and brother, C. Wayman Riggs.
Surviving family include his wife, Loreen of the home; one brother, Tom
Riggs of Pauls Valley; one step-daughter, Debbie Sharpton of Austin,
Texas; three step-grandchildren, Shelley and Scott Haynes of Norman,
Matthew Sharpton of Salina, Kansas now serving in Iraq, Rebecca Sharpton
of Austin, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Dew Ann
Strahorn of Midwest City; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are pending as he has a grandson serving in Iraq; the
family is waiting to hear from him before setting a service time.
