Ruth M. Rice
Ruth Rice, of Pauls Valley was born December 26,
1909 near Elmore City, Oklahoma in the Fair Oak Community to John Lee
Wilson and Mendoza Jane Abernathy Wilson.
She passed away February 3, 2008 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of
98 years.
Ruth was married to Lewis H. Rice in Kansas City, Missouri in 1945. She
held a lifetime teaching certificate for the state of Oklahoma. She had
taught at Fairview School, Story, Elmore City, Mt. Hood in Oregon, Paoli
and Pauls Valley. She had lived in Pauls Valley and most of her life in
Garvin County.
Ruth was a member of the Nazarene Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis H. Rice in
November 1953; 7 sisters, Nellie Mary Wilson McNeill, Lucy Jane Wilson,
Etta Hattie Wilson Seaton, Bessie Lee Wilson DeVeny, Edna Belle Wilson
Baer, Willie Wilburn Wilson Carlton, Opal Mae Wilson Carlton; and a
brother, Bascom Lee Wilson.
Ruth is survived by her son, Gary Rice, of Pauls Valley; and a host of
nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at
10:00 am at Oaklawn Cemetery WW officiated by Rev. Claude Ledbetter.
Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of
Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
Ruth had left a written request that in lieu of flowers, please
contribute to a favorite charity. |
