Rev. Mittie A. Reeves

Rev. Mittie A. Reeves, of Stratford, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma at 94 years of age. She was born February 2, 1909 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to James Travis and Pansy Elizabeth (Polk) Vail. She attended school at the Wheelock Academy girls school near Valliant, Oklahoma where she enjoyed playing basketball. On April 16, 1928 Mittie A. Vail married Henry Johnson Reeves in Alex, Oklahoma.

She was a Minister in Church of the Nazarene and Pastored several churches throughout Oklahoma. During her ministry she was invited twice to appear on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, a Christian television ministry. Mrs. Reeves' passion was preaching the gospel and the teaching children in her home about Jesus.

Mrs. Reeves was preceded by her husband, Henry Johnson Reeves on August 23, 1993; her daughter, Pat McClain Shetley; a great-great-granddaughter, Brittany Yvonne Mullins Ketcher; a sister, Elva Mae Dillard and by 1 niece, Paula Ruth Emory.

Surviving family include 3 sons, Henry Johnson "Hank" Reeves, Jr. of Sulphur, Jim Reeves of Stratford, and Bob Reeves of Pauls Valley; 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren, as well as 2 nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 06, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Stufflebean Chapel, officiated by Rev. Earl Blankenship, Rev. Glen Eaves, Jerry Robbins and Rev. James Glover. Interment will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
