Thelma May "Babe" Bollinger Ray passed away at home
Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the age of 89.
Babe was born February 15, 1917 to Albert and Winnie (Webb) Bollinger in
the Choctaw community. She was a lifelong resident of Garvin County.
Babe married Elmo Lynn Ray July 22, 1933. She was a full-time mother,
avid gardener, remodeled house, refinished furniture, and loved to sew
and quilt. During the war years, Babe even worked as a airplane mechanic
at Tinker Field on the "all-women' repair crew.
She was well known in Pauls Valley for her beautiful flower gardens and
enjoyed showing them off.
She was a faithful member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley.
Babe is survived by five children, Lowell Elmo and Karla Ray of Pauls
Valley, Sharron Ann and Clayton Edwards of Pauls Valley, Johnnie Lynn
and Dorothy Ray of Wynnewood, Phillip and Irene Ray of Pauls Valley,
Cathy and Earl Weisner of Duncan; 14 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Babe is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Elmo Lynn Ray, one
son, Michael; two grandsons, Gary Lynn Ray and John Anthony Ray; five
brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Steven Ray, Clay Jones, J. D. Pogue,
Jim Specht, Justin Youngwolfe and James Patton.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 17, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the
Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Don Chambers.
Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of
Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
