Sylvia Ray O'Neal

Sylvia Ray O'Neal, a resident of Pauls Valley was born September 11, 1917 in Katie, Oklahoma to Susie and William "Bill" Maddox. She passed away January 15, 2004 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years. She was married to Glenn O'Neal in 1945 in Sulphur.

Garvin County has been her home all of her life. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Purcell. Sylvia taught mostly grade school students for over 50 years. Since her retirement she has continued to substitute for the teachers in this area. Writing was her favorite hobby. She wrote short stories and a regular weekly column for the Pauls Valley Daily Democrat for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn O'Neal, of the home; 2 sons, Larry O'Neal, of Oklahoma City; and Danny O'Neal, of Norman; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer O'Neal & Sarah O'Neal, 1 great grandson, Sequojah O'Neal - Johnson.
