In Loving Memory Of

Lawrence L. Norman

Lawrence Lavern Norman, a resident of Gretna, Louisiana since 1964, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the age of 95.

He was the beloved husband of 73 years of Mildred Aliene Johnston Norman and loving father of Frieda Norman White of Gretna, LA and Don Norman of Westwego, LA (husband of Doris), loving grandfather of five grandchildren: Jeffrey White (deceased) of Gretna, LA, Sheila White Sandel (wife of Steve) of Luling, LA, Desiree Norman Wilcox of Diamondhead, MS, Troy-Don Norman of Marrero, LA and Shawn Norman of Kenner, LA and four great-grandchldren: Stephen Sandel, Danielle Wilcox, Rileigh Norman and Victoria Norman. He was also the beloved uncle of many neices and nephews in Pauls Valley, OK.

He was born October 14, 1912 in Granite, AR and lived in and went to school in Tribey, OK, worked in the oil field industry from 1934 until 1977 in Seminole, OK, Kentucky and Southern Illinois and was transferred in 1964 to Gretna, LA, where he retired with Gulf Oil Corporation (now Chevron) as a Louisiana production superintendent after 42 years of service. He was a 33rd Master Mason for over 60 years and a member of the VFW. He was in the United States Army Combat Engineers during World War II while serving his country in France and Germany for two years.

He was preceded in death by parents Minnie Overturf Norman and James Norman, brothers baby James Norman, Clarence Norman, J.R. Norman and Bob Norman and sisters Ozzie McGregor and Opal Carr, all of Pauls Valley, OK. He will forever be remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father and grandfather who treasured his family and was very much loved by everyone who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and will proceed afterward to Mt. Olivet Cemetery where interment will be at the Norman family mausoleum.

Services are under the Direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
