In Loving Memory Of

Sam Markus Nabors

Sam Markus Nabors, of Wynnewood, was born November 17, 1949 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Elmer W. "Ted" and Jo June (Webster) Nabors.

On August 4, 2005 Sam was in a motorcycle accident in Rangely, Colorado where he passed away at the age of 55 years.

He graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1968 where he was involved in FFA. Sam served his country in the United States Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam. On June 3, 1971 he received an honorable discharge from the service and had earned the rank of Sergeant as well as the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter.

On December 7, 1974 Sam married Vickie Briley in Graham, Texas. He worked all his life in the oil field and has worked for Marathon Oil Company for the past 25 years. He was a member of the VFW.

Sam enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working his small-time farming operation as well as spending time with his wife, family and friends.

Surviving family include his mother, Jo June Nabors of Pauls Valley; step-mother, Velma Nabors of Kingfisher; his wife of over 30 years, Vickie of the home; three sons, Casey Nabors & his fiancé, Billie Carter of Maysville, Mark Nabors and his wife, Nicole of Pauls Valley, Russell Nabors and his wife, Kimberly of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Chase Nabors of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jaycee Nabors of Pauls Valley, MaRanda Carter and Justin Digby of Maysville; two brothers, Ted Nabors and his wife, Connie and John Nabors and his wife, Janet of Pauls Valley; his mother-in-law, Clara Briley of Wynnewood; three brothers-in-law, Larry Briley and his wife, Shirley of Texas, Bobby Briley and his wife, Elizabeth of Wynnewood and Ben Briley and his wife, Della of Eastland, Texas; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Ted Nabors; father in law, James Briley; maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. J. S. Webster; paternal grandparents, Iva & Eamon Nabors and his father-in-law, James Briley.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Wynnewood First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Mike Muse and Rev. Larry Briley. Burial will be at Mt.
