Ressie Lee Mitchell

Ressie Lee Mitchell, our sweet precious Mama went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2006 at the age of 89. We do not mourn her passing. We celebrate the years of time well spent. We mourn for those of us left behind who are no longer able to bask in the beauty of this remarkable woman. Her favorite pastime was making quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and others. Each chilly night, when we pull one of her heirlooms over our bodies, Mama will still be here tucking us in.

She was born February 9, 1917 in Ravenden, Arkansas to Will A. and Katie Estella (Pickett) Miller. On January 20, 1943 Ressie Lee Miller was married to Pat Mitchell in Memphis, Tennessee.

Paoli was her home most of her life and was a member of the Paoli First Baptist Church. Yukon, Oklahoma has been her home the past three years.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Pat; parents, Will and Estella Miller; and two brothers, Hubert and Glen Miller.

Surviving family include her children, George and wife Carol, Vivian and husband Roy, and Joe; 6 grandchildren, Pam, Patricia, Paula, Chris, Steve and Josh; 8 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Lauren, Taylor, Tisha, Andrew, Gunner and Mackenzi; one brother, Will A. and wife Faye and one sister, Jessie.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery officiated by Rev. Claude Ledbetter. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
