In Loving Memory Of J. B. Miller
J. B. Miller, of Pauls Valley, was born May 4, 1920, in Paoli, Oklahoma, to Andrew B. and Ruby (Dew) Miller. He passed away July 9, 2004, at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years. He is a graduate of the Paoli High School. On October 5, 1941 J. B. Miller and Dorothy Harrison were married in Pauls Valley. He entered active duty to serve in the U. S. Army during World War II on January 4, 1943. J. B. served in battles and campaigns in Bismarck, Archipelago, New Guinea and Luzon and was decorated with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Award, The Philippine Liberation Award and the Victory Medal. He was discharged on November 25, 1945. In 1983, J. B. retired, after serving for 38 years, from Phillips Petroleum where he had worked in Exploration and Production. He was a member of the Valley Masonic Lodge # 6 and a member of the India Shrine. J. B. also served on the Advisory Committee of the Paoli Alumni Association and was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley. He was a kind, compassionate and gentle man and a strong and supportive head of his family. Surviving family include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Miller, of the home; a daughter, Patricia Miller Dodd, of Plano, Texas; a son, James B. Miller and his wife, Tammy, of New Orleans, Louisiana; 4 grandchildren, Melanie M. Kalana, Derek S. Maxwell, James B. Miller, Jr. and Christopher M. Miller; 2 great-grandchildren, Noa S. Kalana, and Kai H. Harrison Kalana. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at 10:30 am at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Dr. Joe Elam. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
