In Loving Memory Of
Eslin Meely

Eslin Meely, a resident of Stratford was born November 11, 1929 in
Garvin County, Oklahoma to Stephen and Harriett (Smith) Meely. He passed
away February 13, 2004 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the Integris-Baptist
Medical Center at the age of 74 years.
Eslin served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
On September 7, 1951 he and Geraldine Wallace were married in Ada,
Oklahoma.
They made their home in Oklahoma City. Eslin worked in the Steel Industry
for Star Manufacturing and later Borden Steel Company where he retired as
foreman. He lived in Oklahoma City for about 40 years until his retirement
and returned to Garvin County where he has made his home in Stratford for
the past 10 years. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he was a
Sunday School Teacher.
His hobbies include Bowling and Fast Pitch Softball and was a good teacher
of both sports. He also enjoyed Gospel Singing. Eslin and his wife,
Geraldine, were members of a quartet that they called the Arthritis
Quartet. They traveled from state to state to different churches singing
the Gospel.
Surviving family include his wife of 52 years, Geraldine, of the home; 6
brothers, Solomon Meely and Dewitt Meely, both of Oklahoma City; Lincoln
Meely, of Pauls Valley; Gilbert Meely, of Wynnewood; Charles Ray Meely, of
Philadelphia, Mississippi; and William Ray 'Bill' Meely, of Oklahoma City;
1 sister, Lucille Meely, of Oklahoma City; a host of nieces and nephews
including, a special great nephew, Calvin Meely, of Maysville; and a
special nephew, Jerry Meely, of Oklahoma City; a sister-in-law, Mary Meely,
of Maysville; and an aunt, Beatrice Byars, of Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be held February 17, 2004 at 2:00 pm
at Dixon Chapel Presbyterian Church officiated by Pastor Joe Mitchell and
Hazel Wallace. Burial will be at Dixon Chapel Cemetery under the direction
of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
