Opal F. McClendon

Opal F. McClendon, of Pauls Valley was born April 30, 1926 near Ada, Oklahoma to James William and Kizzie O. (Mosier) Smith.

She passed away March 26, 2005 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years.

Opal was married to Vern McClendon who preceded her in death on January 1, 1973. Moving from Mill Creek she made Pauls Valley her home in 1968. She worked in the food service for many years in her own Restaurant as well as managing Restaurants at certain times. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Opal enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, picking pecans and gardening.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mark McClendon; 3 brothers, Carl, Bud and Wes Smith; and a sister, Ruby Garner.

Surviving family include her 3 children, Bobby McClendon and his wife, Terry, of Pauls Valley, Rita Thompson and her husband, Tommy, of Newcastle and Gila Wagstaff of Pauls Valley; 1 sister, Jewel Hurley of Pauls Valley; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 10:00 am at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Rev. Jimmy Dehart. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
