In Loving Memory Of

Ruby Helen Sorrels McCarty

Ruby Helen Sorrels McCarty, of Pauls Valley, was born on October 21, 1926 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Lesley S. and Carrie Belle (Dungan) Sorrels.

She passed away November 24, 2009 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years.

She was married to J. I. McCarty in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on January 19, 1946. They were blessed with three children: Linda Faye, Ruth Helen and Doyle J. McCarty. Later they were blessed with seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She retired from the Pauls Valley State School, now Southern Oklahoma Resource Center, where she was a Cook and took care of the Laundry for many years. Some of her activities that she loved included crocheting, music to dance and listen to as well as cooking and being a care giver to members of her family and friends. The Pauls Valley area has been her home all of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Les and Carrie Sorrels; her husband, J.I. McCarty; two sisters, Irene O’Neal and Hazel Griffin; two brothers, Robert Sorrels and Dean Sorrels.

Surviving family include her children, Linda McCarty Wilkerson of Oklahoma City; Ruth McCarty Huckabaa and her husband, Bill and Doyle J. McCarty and his wife, Donna, all of Wynnewood; seven grandchildren and their families, Raelyn, Shawn and Zoe Hawkins; Candie and Kelsey McKee, Matthew, Dee Dee, Cooper and Bren Huckabaa; Michael, Peggy and Bella Huckabaa; Kristi, Boyde, Kirsten and Luke Scott; Kerri, Brad, Kyle, Macie and Austyn Buckaloo; Jennifer, Jim, Blake and Shelby Fisher; three sisters, Lucy Johnson, Mary Wallace and Faye Allensworth and two brothers, Darrol Sorrels and Ray Sorrels.

Visitation was Wednesday until 7 PM and will be Friday from 9 AM until 1:30 PM. It was requested that Thanksgiving Day be a time for families to spend time together.

Memorials may be sent to Alzheimer research at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) at 825 N. E. 13th Street in Oklahoma City, OK. 73104-9930. Envelopes are available at the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home in Pauls Valley.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Huckabaa, Michael Huckabaa, Kyle Buckaloo, Boyde Scott, Brad Buckaloo, Keith O'Neal, and Mason Scott.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Jim Dehart. Interment will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Professional services and interment are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
