Donnie Wayne Lynn

Donnie Wayne Lynn, of Wynnewood was born October 10, 1945 in Tracy, California to Otis and Dorothy (Phillips) Lynn.

He passed away December 27, 2005 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the age of 60 years.

Donnie served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam from September, 1968, to June, 1969. He was attached to the 75th Ranger Regiment 101st Airborne at Camp Evans in Northern "I" Corp. Donnie's first action upon arriving at Camp Evans was to volunteer for duty with the L.R.R.Ps, Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols. Lots of action with very little recognition, but that's that kind of person Donnie was and always has been.

He attained the rank of Sergeant E5 on May 15, 1968. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M14); Expert Badge (Pistol .45 Cal.); and Marksman Badge (Rifle M16). He probably deserved more, but where the LRRPS went there weren't many people to observe their actions, unless the enemy happened to catch sight of them.

Donnie received an honorable discharge from the United States Army on November 28, 1969.

He loved riding motorcycles and hanging out with his friends. Had it not been for the heavy exposure to Agent Orange and other Chemicals that saturated northern "I" he'd still be doing just that along with enjoying his time with Jeanie. We'll certainly miss him.

Following his service he earned his Lab Technician Credentials and worked at the hospital in Shawnee for a time and for a while at the Pauls Valley General Hospital. For over 20 years he has worked at the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center (Pauls Valley State School).

The Pauls Valley/Garvin County area has been his home since he was 2 years of age. Donnie was active in the Masonic Lodge at Valley Lodge #6 in Pauls Valley.

Along with his passion for motorcycling he also enjoyed traveling, spending time on his land and his pets - his fish, Joe and his Lab, Arlo.

Donnie is preceded in death by his father.

Surviving family include his mother, Dorothy Lynn of Pauls Valley; two children, Sidney Lynn of Hilo, Hawaii and Preston Lynn of Wynnewood; a very special friend, Jeanie Chapman of Pauls Valley; one sister, Lesana Carter, of Paoli; a niece, Cissy Miller; a nephew, Donnie Carter, as well as a host of other, relatives and friends.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Donnie Wayne Lynn at the American Cancer Society, 8400 Silver Crossing, Suite "H", Oklahoma City, OK. 73132 or envelopes are available at the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Stufflebean Chapel. Burial will be at Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
