Ruth E. Long

Ruth E. Long, of Pauls Valley, passed away June 15, 2006 in Pauls
Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 100 years. She was born July 20, 1905 in
Manitou, Oklahoma and grew up near Lindsay, Oklahoma
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Futhey Bales and
William Soloman Bales; her husband, Carlie Crisp Long, Sr.; her son, Dr.
Carlie C. Long, Jr. and daughter, Linda Lou Fanselou as well as eight
brothers and sisters.
Surviving family include her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth L. and
Ken Dowell, of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law, Rosalind Long of Santa
Barbara, California; four granddaughters, Jana Backus and her husband,
Dale; Lou Anne Hale and her husband, Mike; Wendy Gellert and her
husband, Glenn and Carolyn Gunther and her husband, Sean; four
grandsons, Cary Long and his wife; Thomas Larason and his wife, Sue;
Mike Long and his wife; and Mitch Long. Ruth also leaves 12
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth attended the Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma. She
married Carlie Crisp Long in 1925 at the First Presbyterian Church in
Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and raised three children. The church was very
important to the family. Mr. Long and his brother, Ed Long, operated the
Long Bros. Hardware Store for many years. Later Mr. & Mrs. Long operated
C. C. Long's Specialty Store for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 11:00 am at
Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Tom Buzbee. Burial
will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey
Funeral Home.
