Donald Eugene 'Don' Jones

Donald Eugene "Don" Jones, of Pauls Valley was born March 30, 1934 in Byars, Oklahoma to John and Ruel Roberts Jones. He passed away May 14, 2005 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years.

Don was married to Joyce Bonner at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on August 8, 1959. He lived in Byars until moving to Pauls Valley in 1959. Don served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Don was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for almost 40 years. After retiring from the Postal Service, he and his brother painted Texaco Stations. He also provided tax and accounting services for a number of local businesses.

Don was a member of First Church of God in Pauls Valley. He taught Sunday School Class, was a board member and treasurer at the Church of God for more than 40 years. He enjoyed reading and studying History and Natural Science. He also loved to hunt Pheasants.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, John & Ruel Jones; and his sister, Helen Ballard.

Surviving family include his wife of almost 46 years, Joyce Jones of the home in Pauls Valley; a daughter, Vicki Jones of Oklahoma City; a son and daughter in law, Rick & Maggie Jones of Charleston, South Carolina; a brother and his wife, Orval & Theresa Jones of Pauls Valley; a brother in law, Jim Ballard of Pauls Valley; a granddaughter, Kate Hoge, a great grandson, Rudy Yates, and was a special PaPa to Chelsea & Lindsea Ross; nieces & nephews, Ladonna & Kelly Stark and their children, Patrick and Alicia and Greg & Stephanie Ballard and their children, Kaci & Hunter; numerous nieces & nephews on the Bonner side and his mother in law, Lillie Bonner.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Rev. Joel Ferren and Gary Underwood. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
