In Loving Memory Of

Betty Jo Johnson

Betty Jo Johnson, of Gainesville, Texas, formerly of Pauls Valley, was born May 6, 1929 in Filmore, Oklahoma to Taylor Bruce and Gracie (Baker) Blanton.

She passed away July 29, 2007 at Gainesville, Texas at the age of 78 years.

Betty Jo Blanton attended Primary School in Filmore and High School in Milburn, Oklahoma. She furthered her education by attending Murray State College in Tishomingo.

In 1949 she was the Principal Cheerleader for the Goal Diggers at Murray State College. That same year she met her future husband, Carl Ray Johnson. They were married in the First United Methodist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on July 4, 1949. They made their home in various places including Oklahoma, Saudi Arabia, California, Arkansas, and Texas where their home has been since 1993. Her activities included her joy for gardening, bowling and playing softball.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church as well as a proud member of the Choctaw Nation.

Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother-in-law, Leroy Copeland.

Surviving family include her husband of 58 years, Carl Ray Johnson of the home; 2 children, Karla Jo Johnson of Gainesville, Texas; and Colleen Woodall and her husband Scot, of Golden, Colorado; six grandchildren, Michael Carl Johnson and his Fiancé, Jennifer Burrows, Nicole Geddes, Christopher Geddes, Brock Geddes, Brooke Woodall, and Katelyn Woodall; her sister, Bobbie Louise and her husband, Jim Copeland; two nephews, Larry and his wife Rima Copeland and Dwight and his wife Debbie Copeland; two great-nephews, Daniel Copeland & Eric Copeland; one great-niece, Kelly Copeland; a brother-in-law, Gene and his wife Tommie Johnson, of Pauls Valley; Moss Lake cousins, Davis, Denise, Jennifer, Margaret, Charlie, Connie, Whitney, Rhea-Claire and Hunter Galubenski.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Kip Heatley. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
