In Loving Memory Of

Beulah Higgins

Beulah Higgins, of Pauls Valley was born on January 26, 1913 in McLean,Texas to George and Hattie (Isbell) Bouerland. She passed away on July 5, 2007, at the Washita Valley Living Center in Pauls Valley, at the age of 91.

Beulah lived on a ranch until she was school age, then moved to Altus.

On October 9, 1929, Beulah married Henry U. Higgins of Blair, Oklahoma. They were married for 60 years & 3 months.

When she married Henry, he worked for Prainer Pipeline Co., then Sinclair, then Atlantic Richfield.

She moved to Pauls Valley in 1940, transferred to Bristow, Ok., then back to Pauls Valley in 1947. In January 1950, she began working as a secretary for the First Baptist Church. She retired on Jan. 1, 1978, then came back as financial secretary, Aug. 1982 to January. 1988. She served as the Treasurer of Arbuckle Baptist Association for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents & her husband in 1990. She had no children.

Beulah is survived by two nieces, Ruth Triplett and Doris Dean, both of Waco, Texas.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery officiated by Dr. Joe Elam. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

So sorry for your loss. I believe I was related but never knew her. Beulah’s mother was Hattie Isbell and my family descended from Walter Isbell. Walter was Hattie’s brother. We had a common grandfather and grandmother in James L Isbell and Sarah Lumley (Isbell).  If anyone has a picture of Hattie, would love to have it for the family tree.
