In Loving Memory Of

Hazel B. Griffith

Hazel B. Griffith, of Maysville was born April 21, 1928 in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Les and Carrie ( Dunigan) Sorrels.

She passed away June 14, 2009 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years.

Hazel lived most of her life in the Whitebead Community near Pauls Valley and attended Whitebead School. For the past 10 years or so she has made her home in Maysville and was a member of the Maysville Assembly of God Church.

She was married to Earl William Griffith at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pauls Valley on December 19, 1945. She worked as a Cook at various places including the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center from 1980 until 1995 and the Four Sands Inn from 1970 until 1992 as well as had worked on their farm all of her life. Hazel retired from the S. O. R. C. in 1995.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Earl William Griffith on April 30, 1971; 2 brothers, Dean Sorrels from Oklahoma City and Robert Sorrels from the Whitebead Community; a sister, Irene O'Neal from Wynnewood and a grandson, Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Griffith from Pauls Valley.

Surviving family include her sons, David Wayne Griffith of Pauls Valley, Steve William Griffith of Lexington and Rex Vernon Griffith of Galena, Kansas; 4 sisters, Lucy Johnson and Mary Wallace of Maysville, Ruby McCarty of Pauls Valley and Fay Allenworth of Oklahoma City; 2 brothers, Ray Sorrels of Sentinel and Darrell Sorrels, of the Whitebead Community; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives & friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Billy Davenport. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
