In Loving Memory Of

Edith Fay Green

Edith Fay Green of Norman and formerly of Pauls Valley died June 27, 2006, at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born March 9, 1915, in St. Louis, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma the daughter of Baxter A. and Lillie M. (Decker) Simpkins. She married Alvin B. Green, whom she later divorced. She raised five children as a single mother. Garvin County was her childhood home as well as the birthplace of her children.

A brother, Noland Simpkins of Edmond, and Bobbie Brittian of Atoka, survive. Also surviving are a son, Dickie Green of Manhattan, KS, a daughter, Gwyna Rudee of Brisbane, CA, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Edith worked in retail and retired from The Kroger Co. in 1975. She enjoyed a long and active retirement, serving as a hospital and nursing home volunteer and teaching adults how to read in the Literacy for America program. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Mr. Green, three children, one grandchild and four siblings.

Graveside funeral service for family members will be held Friday, June 30, 2006 at 10:30AM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Larry Cornforth. Interment will be under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey funeral Home.
