Floyd Dow Gates, of Wynnewood, was born February 14, 1925
in Seminole, Oklahoma to Frank Hood Gates and Anna Montgomery Gates.
He passed away July 1, 2008 at Wynnewood, Oklahoma at the age of 83
years.
Mr. Gates served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He
made his home in the Dallas and Bonham, Texas area where he worked in
Dry Wall Construction as a Tape and Bed man. In the mid-1990's he moved
to make his home near Wynnewood.
He lived in the country where he could enjoy the wild animals of just
about any kind, but especially he liked horses. He also enjoyed:
tinkering on old cars; dancing and playing his guitar and harmonica.
What he loved most was his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Gates; brothers,
Lloyd Gates and Bernard Gates; and s sister, Thelma Jean Wood.
Surviving family include his children, Gary Lawrence and Larry Lawrence,
of Bristow; Floyd Dewayne Gates of Moore; Bobby Dean Gates of Oklahoma
City; Martha Clayton, Terry Lynn Gates and Dowetta Jan Williams, all of
Moore; his sister, Blanche Wolcott, of Paoli; 20 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2008 at 10:00 am at
Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Mark Gaines.
Interment will be at Whitebead Cemetery under the direction of
Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
