Hettie
Rose (Dale) Floyd, of Noble was born August 6, 1910 in Celina, Tennessee
to James Wilburn and Lassie D. (Jones) Dale.
She passed away November 10, 2006 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 96
years.
She was married to Webster Clay Floyd in Ada, Oklahoma on December 27,
1934.
Mrs. Floyd was a School Teacher as was her husband. She is a graduate of
the now East Central State College in Ada where she earned her
Bachelor's Degree in Education. They had taught schools in Murray
County, Garvin County and McClain County in cities of Davis, Wynnewood,
Roady, Katie, Paoli, Crossroads, Dare, Walker and Purcell. She had been
a devoted Teacher all of her life even teaching Art to children at the
age of 95. She has painted about 1,000 painting of which she had sold
close to 900. Her activities included Art as well as being very active
in the 4-H in which she and her husband won the National Leadership
Award. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley and
had taught the Ruth Sunday School Class for fifteen years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; James Wilburn & Lassie D.
Dale; her husband, Webster Clay Floyd; a son, Ray Belvin Floyd; three
brothers, Wilburn Dale, Raymond Dale and Albert Dale; two sisters Edith
Dale and Winnie Dale; and two granddaughters, Erika Floyd and Angela
Floyd.
Surviving family include her children, Rex E. Floyd and his wife, Helen,
of Washington, Ok., Glenn Floyd and his wife, Judy, of Norman, Ok., Koy
Floyd and his wife, Kay, of Stephenville, Texas and Carolyn Floyd Taylor
of hot Springs, Arkansas; three brothers, Fred Dale and his wife,
Travis, and Jimmy Dale and his wife, Barbara, all of Davis, Ok; and
George Dale and his wife, Maxine, of Elmore City, Ok.; four sisters,
Olyne Simmons of Ardmore, Ok., Bonnie Morris, of Dallas, Texas, Laura
Lee Byrd and her husband, Gene, of Amarillo, Texas and Ethel Allen, of
California; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law and
brother-in-law, John and Evelyn Merideth, of Norman, Ok., and
sister-in-law, Lathel Dale, of Duncan, Ok.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Debbie Floyd-Spearing, Michael
Floyd, Kenneth Floyd, Robert Floyd, Carol Floyd-Behrens, Andy Floyd,
Mark Floyd, Cynthia Floyd, Terri Menefee, Scott Taylor, David Floyd,
Lynne Driver, and Keith Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers will include her great-grandchildren: Jeremy
Spearing, Allen Spearing, Marcus Menefee, Drew Menefee, Clay Taylor,
Isabel Taylor, Christy Johnson, Gary Driver, Stormi Floyd, Nathan
Behrens, Rachel Behrens, Ashlee Floyd, Bryce Floyd, Cale Stout, Trent
Stout, Megan Floyd, Madison Floyd, Allie Shaw and Jeffery Shaw; they
also include other family and friends: Fred Ezell, Claude Kniffin,
Wilson Hall, Delbert Taylor and John Merideth.
Memorials may be sent in memory of Hettie Rose (Dale) Floyd to a charity
of your choice.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 2:00 pm at
Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Chuck Samples.
Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of
Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
