In Loving Memory Of

Miguel (Mike) S. Espitia, Sr.

Miguel (Mike) S. "Pops" Espitia, Sr., of Pauls Valley was born May 8, 1928 in Amarillo, Texas to Carmen and Margarita (Salinas) Espitia of Old Mexico. He grew up and attended school in Amarillo. Later he served in the U. S. Army for a number of years.

Miguel S. Espitia, Sr. and Emilia (Orosco) Espitia were married in Amarillo, Texas on August 30, 1967.

Moving from Amarillo they made their home in Pauls Valley where they have lived the past 28 years. The past 27 years he has worked for the City of Pauls Valley and had earned the position of Street Department Supervisor. Mike loved his job, friends and most of all, his family. Activities that he liked most was gardening, raising flowers and carpentry.

He was called to be with his Lord on the morning of September 29, 2004 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years.

Surviving family include his six children, Margie Wells and her husband, Mark, of Aurora, Missouri, Ernie J. Sanchez and his wife, Vickie, of Oklahoma City, Lee Espitia and his wife, Amy, of Wynnewood, Mike Espitia, Jr. and his wife, Frances, of Taylor, Texas, Monica Batts and her friend, Jason Littlewalker and Frankie Solis Espitia and his wife, Emerald, all of Pauls Valley; twenty grandchildren, as well as, nine great-grandchildren; and it is said that behind every good man is always a good woman and that describes his loving wife of 37 years, Emilia, of the home.

He taught his children and grandchildren how important it was to love and earn respect. He will be missed very much. Mike is now gone from our side but will never be forgotten.

Rosary services will be held the evening of Friday, October 1, 2004 at 7:00 pm in the Stufflebean Chapel in Pauls Valley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 10:00 am at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Mike McCarty, Mike Espitia and Ray Stafford. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
