Otho L. Edwards

Otho L. Edwards, of Sand Springs was born January 14, 1918
in Fairview, Oklahoma to Robert W. and Nora (Tinnis) Edwards.
Just 10 days after Pearl Harbor was attacked, Otho, began a tour of duty
in the U. S. Army Air Corp. on December 17, 1941. While in the service he
earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and ended his tour of duty of World War
II on October 5, 1945.
He and Fern O. Baird were married in Medicine Lodge, Kansas on March 1,
1950.
Otho lived in several areas of Oklahoma including Fairview and Alva. Pauls
Valley was also his home for many years. Otho worked for Sharp Flying
Service rebuilding aircraft and was a member of Valley Christian Church in
Pauls Valley.
He was also a Diesel Mechanic and was able to fix anything from farm
tractors to aircraft engines to truck engines. If what he was working on,
such as antique cars he used to restore, needed a part that was no longer
available he would simply make it himself.
His illness caused him to move closer to his children in the Tulsa area
where he has been a short while.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fern, on December 14,
1997; 2 sisters and a grandson.
Otho passed away November 10, 2005 in Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 87
years.
Surviving family include his 3 children, James L. Edwards of W.
Yellowstone, Wyoming, Richard D. Edwards of Broken Arrow, and Glenda I.
Solomon of Sand Springs; 1 brother, Robert Edwards of Pocasset; 7
grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2005 at 1:00 pm at
Graveside Services officiated by Chuck Lightfoot. Burial will be at
Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
