In Loving Memory Of

Roy Austin Dennis

Roy Austin Dennis was born at Crossroads, Oklahoma on October 21,1927 to John Henry and Lucy Dennis and passed away on April 28, 2004 at Pauls Valley. 

Funeral services with be at 2:00 pm Friday, April 30 at the Stufflebean Chapel with Rev. Joel Downing officiating.  Dr. Don Wycoff of the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home of Pauls Valley. Austin grew up in Foster, Oklahoma and graduated as Valedictorian in 1945 from Pernell High School.  He married Catherine Louise Milligan on September 9, 1950 in Gainesville, Texas and moved to Pauls Valley.  He worked many years for Carey Lumber Company, Roy Perkins Lumber and retired from G. F. Wackers.  Austin loved archeology and founded the Washita Valley Archeological Society and the Washita Valley Museum. Through this journey he made two special lifelong friends, Don Wycoff and Richard Drass.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, one daughter, Donna Richards and her husband, Frank, of Lawton; three sons, Gary Dennis and his wife, Kay, of Monroe, Georgia; Jeff Dennis and his wife Vickie of Paoli, and Tim Dennis and his wife Ruthann of Pauls Valley. He has eight grandchildren; Eric and Heather Smith, Lawton; Leah and David Combes, Wynnewood; Mitchell and Tara Jo, Paoli, Heather Eggleston, Pauls Valley; Kenny and Kyle Dennis, Pauls Valley; and Macall Dennis, Monroe, Georgia. He is also survived seven great grandchildren Hannah and Cody Combes; Gracie Eggleston, Austyn Smith, Julia Saupitty, Nickolas and Katy Richards; two brothers, Mitford Dennis of Pampa, Texas and Willard Dennis of Duncan; and a host of nieces, nephews and well-loved friends. 

He is preceded in death by: his parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
