In Loving Memory Of Juanita Amelia Hatman Davis
Juanita Amelia Hatman Davis began her life's journey in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, on September 19, 1917, and began her next journey at her home in Texas City, Texas, on June 21, 2004, with all of her children at her side. Juanita was the oldest of eleven children born to J. A. and Sarah Hatman. Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph G. Davis; a son-in-law, Curtis R. Gilliam; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Davis and grandchildren Christopher Cooke and Cindy Lowe. She is survived by her son, Jimmy R. Davis and special friend Rose Mary Smith of La Marque, Texas; daughters, Roxie E. Gilliam, Linda DeFoore and husband, Eugene, Maurice Davis and husband, David David Kummer, all of Texas City, Texas; her son, Michael S. Davis and wife, Annmarie of Waukesha, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; and by her siblings, LaJuana Gunter of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Allyne Cantrell of Oregon, Sarah Jane Saucedo of California, Don Hatman of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and William B. Hatman of Texas City, Texas. Juanita was a mother, a gardener and a quilting artist. She served her community for years as an educator. Eight years ago, she was adopted by her pet cat, R. J., who never left her side for the last 80 days -- a courageous companion to the end. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 25, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Rev. Finis Steelman and Rev. Kenneth Campbell. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home in Pauls Valley.
