Maurine Kendall Davenport

Maurine Kendall Davenport was born Feb. 27, l917 in Pauls Valley, OK. to Sam and Madge (Young) Kendall. She passed from this life to move on to a better one on March 5th at Yale OK. Maurine attended all 12 years of school in Pauls Valley. She had one brother Jim Tom Kendall; her dad owned and operated the Kendall Grocery. She was born and lived most of her life at the same address in Pauls Valley.

She married Jack Walton Davenport on April 3, l938 in Sulphur, Oklahoma; they were married for 51 years until his death in l989.

Maurine worked for Southwestern Bell for 35 years, all in Pauls Valley until the last few years and she had to transfer to Ardmore to finish her retirement. She was active in the Guild, UMW and Democratic Woman’s Club.

Maurine became a Member of the Pauls Valley Methodist Church on April 10, l927.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Madge Kendall, brother Jim Tom Kendall, husband Jack Walton Davenport, brother-in-law Bill Davenport and sister-in-law Virgie Kendall.

Her family, of whom she loved and was very proud, survives her. Her son Jack Kendall Davenport and wife Kaye of Silver City, OK, four grandsons and 9 great-grandchildren: Gary & Charlotte, Clayton Kendall & Maurine Davenport of Denver, CO; Robert & LeAnna, Morgan & Reid Davenport of McAllen, TX; Kerry & Meredith, Jordan & Jacob Davenport of Allen, TX; and Keven & Debra, Bailey, Braylen Kendall & Brentlee Davenport of Frisco, TX. one sister-in-law Helen Davenport of Okla. City, 3 nieces and 1 nephew, and a life long friend, Louise Stephens, of Pauls Valley.

Funeral services will be held March 9, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Dr. Robert J. Kanary. Burial will be at Mt.
