In Loving Memory Of

Sam D. Craddock

Sam D. Craddock, of Paoli was born November 7, 1905 in Paoli, Oklahoma, I.T., to Thomas Danel and Alpha (Howard) Craddock. He passed away August 10, 2004 at Tecumseh, Oklahoma at the age of 98 years.

Following his formal education he went on to attend Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. On February 11, 1933 he and Hallie Kidd were married in Chandler, Oklahoma. Sam worked in the auto parts business for many years in Sulphur, Oklahoma, and Electra, Texas, where he owned his own business. His wife, Hallie, preceded him in death on August 30, 1970.

On June 19, 1971 he and Hazel Murray Rodke were married in Oklahoma City. In November of the following year they returned to make the Florence Chapel Community their home and became very interested in Ranching. His wife, Hazel, preceded him in death February 21, 2001.

Sam was a rancher until his early 90’s. He enjoyed raising cattle as well as going fishing. He was very active in the fund raising activities for the Paoli Senior Citizen’s Building. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pauls Valley.

Family that have preceded him in death also include: his parents; 6 brothers, Robert, John, Dutch, Melvin, Joe and Frank Craddock and 2 sisters, Virgie Beard and Mary Goodson.

Surviving family include: his daughter, Mary Ann Shields and her husband, Charles, of Tecumseh, Ok. and their family: granddaughters, Stacy Engle and her husband, Dawson of Shawnee and Leslie Shields of Austin, Texas; great-granddaughter, Keagan Engle.

Sam's surviving family also include: a step-daughter, Pauline Rodke (Garrett), of Paoli; and her family: step-granddaughters, Gabriel Rodke Garrett and her husband, Carl Wakeland of Scott Valley, California, Erin Rodke Lyles and her husband, Loren of San Diego, California and Pamela Rodke Filipelli of Paoli, Ok; his step-son, Allen Seymour Rodke and his wife, Gini, of Pauls Valley, Ok.; and their family: step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rodke Washburn and her husband, Kevin of St. Paul Minnesota and 5 step-great-grandchildren: Salvatore Filipelli, Andrea and Christopher Wakeland and Cole and Ford Washburn.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 13, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Rev. Tracy Schumpert and Fred Butler. Burial will be at Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
