Robert Allen Clayter

Robert Allen "Bob" Clayter, of Pauls Valley
was born April 4, 1925 in Waco, Texas to Albert Henry Clayter and Abbie
Mae Alexander. He passed away July 19, 2004 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age
of 79 years.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Sue Clayter, Pauls Valley,
Oklahoma, a sister, Louise Pittman, of Wells Point, Texas; his daughter
Paula Jane Teague and her husband John of Pettus, Texas; stepdaughters,
Kara Dawn Shorter and her husband Rick of Oklahoma City, Belinda Wilkerson
and her husband Ricky of Pauls Valley, Marcia Miller and her husband
Robert, of Blanchard, Ok, Step sons, Doyle Somers and his wife Connie, of
Norman, Ok, David Somers and his wife Kay of Wynnewood, Ok, Harold Tiller
and his wife Cathy of Broken Arrow, Ok; Jack Tiller and his wife Rhoda of
Oklahoma City, Ok; Don Tiller of Omaha, Nebraska.
Robert had 3 grandchildren, 32 step grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren,
and 1 great, great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, who will
all miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Robert Allen
Clayter, Jr., a sister, Thelma Mae Jenkins, of California, a brother
Eugene Clayter, of Florida, and a stepson, Jerry Lee Tiller of Tulsa,
Oklahoma.
Robert joined the CCC's at age 16 and then went on to join the Army Air
Corp, 15th Air Force, during World War II. He was assigned to the 318th
Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Group, Checkertail group. He served in
North Africa, Italy and Southern France and flew missions in P40 aircraft.
He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts.
He had worked at Wilson and Company Meat Packing Plant and then was
employed by the Sheet Metal Union of Oklahoma City, Ok, for many years, as
a welder and Lead man and supervisor until his retirement. He worked with
Garvin County React for many years voluntering his services.
Robert was a member of Beatty Baptist Church for some time where he
accepted Christ as his Savior. He enjoyed working with the youth, playing
his guitar and singing old hymns which he learned to love in his
childhood. He rededicated his life while in the VA hospital a few months
ago and was eagerly looking forward to returning to church service as soon
as he could, but the Lord called him home before he had the chance.
Robert loved fishing and took every opportunity to go and often took his
grandsons, Kyle and Stephen fishing with him. He had a pet poodle, Buddy,
who was his constant companion for several years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 23, 2004 at 2:00
pm at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Pastor Joel Downing. Burial will be
at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral
Home.
