In Loving Memory Of

Alta Inez Burch

Alta Inez Burch passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2005.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her and will be always remembered as a gracious, caring and loving person.

Born on November 4, 1906 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, her parents Alfred Sidney and Anna Melissa Crossfield instilled in her a devotion to family and friends.  She was committed to helping her sisters and caring for them.  She moved to Austin, Texas in the mid-1950’s from Lake Charles, Louisiana with her husband Edward Allen Burch.  Mr. Burch preceded her in death, as did her sisters: Vivian Taylor, Effie Fitzgerald and Josephine Crossfield and a nephew, Jack Fitzgerald.

She was educated as a schoolteacher at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma and taught elementary school in Ponca City, Oklahoma.  Active in civic and church organizations, she was a longtime member of the Austin Women’s Club, Austin Women’s Forum, The Austin Club and the University Methodist Church.

Inez is survived by a number of nephews and nieces; Bill and Maxine Fitzgerald, Joe and Carolyn Thompson, Ed and Susan Thompson, George Allen and Maxine Gibson, Louise Bolles, Mary Ellen Thompson, Barbara Beckham and Carol Loftin; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Cecilia Rohloff and the staff at the JP Morgan Chase Private Bank for their tremendous support and loyal friendship. During the last few years of her life, Inez was cared for by a group of very dedicated ladies. Her family is very grateful for their kind and loving care.

A funeral service was held at the Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 7th with burial planned in the family plot at the Mt Olivet Cemetery on Sunday, October 9th at 2:00 pm under the direction of the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flower, the family requests that contributions be made to First United Methodist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
