In Loving Memory Of
Maude Bagwell Brewer

Maude Bagwell Brewer departed her earthly life on
November 30, 2006, at home. Made was born on July 15, 1910, at Pauls
Valley, Oklahoma. Her childhood years were spent in the Beaty community
southwest of Pauls Valley on the family farm.
Her given middle name was "Thankful" and all of her friends and family
were thankful indeed for the opportunity to know her. She was a very
independent lady and was very proud of her Oklahoma and Tennessee
heritage. Her parents moved to the Chickasaw Nation from Tennessee where
she boldly introduced herself to Dolly Parton and told Dolly about her
Tennessee roots and family tales of Davy Crockett.
She had a green thumb and loved to plant seeds wherever there was a bare
spot of ground. Her cherry trees were popular with many passersby and
she happily shared the cherries with them. In her latter years, she
enjoyed sitting in her chair and watching all that passed by or to just
"putter around" in the yard wearing her straw hat. Maude was always
accompanied by her devoted little Terrier who she called "my little
doggie", but who is also known as Lucy or Zero in the neighborhood. She
loved to browse in her garden and pick the vegetables whether ready or
not. Few tomatoes were ever allowed to ripen because she relished fried
green tomatoes and would give a sack to anyone who came her way.
Maude had many friends from her long involvement with the family
business in Pauls Valley. She spent many years managing Brewer's
Drive-In and knew most local residents by their first name. She was also
known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Grandmaudie".
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Bagwell and Lettie
Beaty Bagwell; her husband, L. E. Brewer; her daughter, Mary Elizabeth
Ward Randall; and her sister, Beulah Ward.
She is survived by her stepson, L. E. "Hooter" Brewer, Jr., and wife,
Emmalu, of Moore, Oklahoma, and their children, Paul, Dan, and Layne
Ellen. Her sons, Johnny Brewer, of Oklahoma City and Pauls Valley, and
his daughters, Jennifer and Melissa; and Mike Brewer, of Pauls Valley
and his wife, Revae, and their daughter, Angela. She is also survived by
Mary's children, Suzanne and Hayden Elder, of Athens, Texas, and their
children, Ashton and Forrest; Stephanie and Bruno Rumbelow, of
Grapevine, Texas, and their children, Drew, John Robert, and Libby; Bob
and Gail Randall of Flint, Texas, and their daughter, Riley; and Mark
and Ashley Randall of Tyler, Texas, and their children, Jonathan, David,
William, Caroline, and Elizabeth.
The memorial service for Maude will at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian
Church of Pauls Valley on Monday, December 4, 2006, with Reverend Robin
Spurling officiating. An earlier family graveside service was conducted
at Whitebead Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral
Home in Pauls Valley. Notes of Remembrance and/or Condolences may be
sent to the family at www.stufflebeanfuneralhome.com.
She loved her church and was a permanent fixture in her regular pew for
many years where she would say, "God Bless You", to all within her
reach.
God bless you Mother, may your journey be one of joy and homecoming with
your family members and friends who preceded you. We know you were
greeted with warm embraces. We will miss you dearly. |
