In Loving Memory Of

Vera L. Begley

Vera L. Begley, of Pauls Valley was born November 17, 1915 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Vere and Margaret (Wallace) Spencer. Vera grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. At the age of 13 she lost her mother and quickly assumed the motherly responsibility of helping raise her four younger sisters. She later graduated from Earlsboro High School in Earlsboro, Texas.

She married Cloyd Begley in the Christian Church in Oklahoma City on July 30, 1935. They were blessed with two children, Earl and Margaret Anne.

Vera was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the love of her life as was her church family. For many years she was a volunteer at the Pauls Valley General Hospital Auxiliary accumulating close to 4,000 hours of volunteer time. She was also very active in the Samaritans.

She passed away the afternoon of Saturday, December 9, 2006, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pauls Valley and has made Pauls Valley her home since 1949.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd Begley; two sisters, Mary Belle Spring and Margaret Virginia Smith; and a grandson, Andrew 'Andy' Begley.

Surviving family include her children, Earl Begley and his wife Teresa, of Pauls Valley and Margaret Anne Begley of Richardson, Texas; two sisters, Betty Anne Silman of Norman and Lydia Katherine Evans of Lawrence, Kansas; two grandchildren, Michelle McCully and James Spencer Begley; four great-grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew McCully and William and Miranda Begley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials for Vera L. Begley may be sent to The Samaritans, The Pauls Valley General Hospital Auxiliary, at P. O. Box 368 - 100 Valley Drive or to the First Christian Church, 300 N. Ash, all in Pauls Valley, Ok. 73075

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ officiated by Rev. Robin Spurling. A private family service at the graveside will be held at a later date. Services for cremation were under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
