My Papa Howard
So much is to be said about the man who touched so many lives...yet, i find it very hard to speak when his name comes into conversation. He was my fishing buddy, a role model, a hero, a daddy, a grandpa, a great grandpa, an uncle, a cousin, friend, and an ambassador of unconditional love. He was such a strong man...and in his last days those who had admired him so long for that very character had to dig deep within themselves to find the special kind of  strength it took to hold back tears and carry on. He was my favorite...he was the reason i moved to this silly part of the country...heck, i guess i've got to give him credit for me finding my husband. Papa Howard never said a negative thing to me...when it seemed the world was looking down on me, he would say he understood and that he had faith in me. He was an encourager, a boss...and an entertainer. Up until the very end, my papa howard always asked how "erika's baby" was...he was so excited about miss hadlee coming to this world. Although she'll never meet him, she'll know the love and encouragement that he was gracious enough to bestow upon the loved ones in his life. About thirty minutes before he went home to be with Jesus, he held my hand and although he couldn't talk anymore, he could listen. I told him I loved him...and he squeezed my hand ever so sweetly...i never knew the power a little squeeeze could have. He'll be greatly missed...and rightly so. His legacy of life and love will continue in all of us.

Grandma, Thank you for making sure us girls had the chance to have a relationship with your daddy and momma. It was a special gift...a blessing of the kind of love that only grandpa howard and grandma wanda could give...one i never would have known without your love to guide us there. I love you all very much!
